Tonight, I watched "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday", the last two episodes in Series 2 of Doctor Who. I hoarded them after downloading them over the weekend, saving them for my days off. Seeing as how Doctor Who both exhilarates me and leaves me raw after viewing, I figured waiting to watch them until my weekend was the best course of action.

I was right, of course. The end of "Doomsday" left me a bit of a shuddering and tearful wreck.

First, a note on the execution: Oh, there was beautiful snark in these two episodes. Those of my friends who are old school Who fans will laugh their asses off in a few places. The acting was pretty top notch in these episodes, as well, especially with Billie Piper and David Tennant. Absolutely top notch. The story had more holes in it than I would have liked, but that's alright.

I'd like to do a more analytical review later, but that will involve some extra reading over at [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho. And that will require some extra time. So don't expect it any time soon: my "extra time" is likely pretty limited until I'm back in Montgomery.

The reason that the end of "Doomsday" left me tearstricken is simple: it completely encapsulates my childhood fear of Doctor Who.

Here there be spoilers... )

Oh, and out of curiosity:
[livejournal.com profile] catwalk, which part were you going to warn me about?
